A$AP Rocky Criticized For Copying 'Ugliest Trainer Ever' With Latest Collaboration
A$AP Rocky and Under Armour’s surprise trainer collaboration has led to accusations from Osiris—a throwback skate brand anyone who ever wrote ‘Korn’ on their pencil case at school will no doubt remember—that he copied their design.
The label’s 2001 D3 model became the benchmark for all other massive, ill-judged skate shoes of the time. And looking at it, you’d be hard pushed not to spot a few similarities with Rocky’s new kicks.
Well, Osiris certainly noticed them and so took to social media calling the rap superstar out for all to see.
A follow up to a comment on the post referenced the fact that the A$AP x Under Armour SRLo trainer was designed by former pro skater Dave Mayhew—the same guy who was responsible for the original D3. However, Osiris was obviously upset that there had been no nod from Rocky to the brand itself.
It’s kind of understandable on one level. But at the same time, would you really want to take credit for bringing a shoe like this into existence? We’re not so sure.
