These Are the Best-Dressed Men of the 2020 Oscars
It's here. Finally. The big night. The Biggest of Nights, actually, when you're talking about the awards-season circuit. The 2020 Oscars have arrived, and some of the biggest stars in the movie world are walking down the red carpet getting ready to (maybe, hopefully) walk away from this Big Night with a little gold man to put on a mantlepiece or a desk somewhere. It's a whole thing!
And, because it's a whole thing, you can bet that there are a lot of guys who turned their looks into a whole thing, as well. Spike Lee paid homage to Kobe. Billy Porter had a royal moment, bedecked in gold feathers. We're long past the days of a simple tux making the grade for the Big Night...right?
Well, maybe not entirely. For all the big, bold stuff, the 2020 Oscars red carpet has also been marked by a predilection for classic tailoring. We're talking about black tuxes and white shirts, sure (Noah Baumbach and Taika Waititi both employed the combo well). But we're also talking about get-ups that reference the old-school, but take things in a slightly different direction ("slightly" being the operative word). Look, for instance, to Mahershala Ali, in a blacked-out suit tux with an attached belt from Ermenegildo Zegna XXX. Or to Rami Malek, in a similarly sinister (and stylish) outfit from Saint Laurent.
The Oscars has a reputation for playing it safe, and that's well-earned, but this year's best-dressed guys played it just a little less than safe. Keep reading to see them all.
