The internet keeps the hype train going, but streetwear is still very much tied to the traditional retail conceptif you haven't lined up outside a store for a big release, are you really a streetwear fan?

Besides that the nice thing about streetwear is that the best stores don't just have excellently curated collections, they're also gathering spots for fans and aficionados.

Off-White Manila

Whether you love or hate Virgil Abloh’s deconstructed, quotation-marks-loving aesthetic, there’s no denying that Off-White is one of the most important streetwear brands out thereso much so that it's on the list almost because of novelty value alone. They opened their doors at 8 Rockwell in Makati last August to much fanfare. It’s a chill shopping experience, but lines drop on non-release days only.

Akimbo

Streetwear is often an exercise in mixing high and low, but if you prefer staying on the luxe side, head to Akimbo at Uptown Mall in BGC to spot contemporary designer brands like Opening Ceremony, GCDS, and Han Kjobenhavn. Peep the art on display while you're there, too.

Commonwealth

With three doors currently operating around Manila, Commonwealth’s status as an elite-tier retailer for the latest sneaker releases is obviously good business. Take you pick from SM Aura, Greenbelt 5, and Power Plant Mall for some shopping.

PROGRESS

One of the OGs of local streetwear, PROGRESS’ brick-and-mortar store at 41 Sgt. Esguerra, South Triangle is a must-visit if you’re in Quezon City. Art, skate decks, sneakers, and its beloved homegrown clothing line await inside.

Ponderosa Hall

One of the epicenters of Escolta’s recent revival is the First United Building on the fabled street. Inside, there are a variety of artistic and very millennial stores, but we’re here for the streetwear (and maybe some authentic Chinese food) so head over to Ponderosa Hall where they feature a wide range of local labels.

PURVEYR Post

Aside from hosting their signature block parties and other scene-celebrating events, PURVEYR also holds down a space at 1403 A. Apolinario St., Makati (that’s on the other side of Chino Roces if you’re wondering). The store features a diverse selection of homegrown streetwear and a barber shop for a quick cut when you’re done browsing.

Season Pass

Vintage is in this season and if you’d rather not deal with the intricacies of shopping through Facebook and Instagram while looking for that one item you missed, drop by Season Pass at 51 Magiting St. at Teacher’s Village in QC to buy, sell, or trade hard-to-find grails. You won't have to worry about pesky shipping issues here.
