First, U.S. outfit Coach got Michael B. Jordan in front of the camera for its autumn 2019 campaign. But now he's behind the design desk with a new collaboration inspired by the Creed II star's own interests.

Which, evidently, entails anime. Lots of it actually. The distinctive form of Japanese cartoonery (big eyed, primary-colored, save-the-world-at-all-costs sort of vibe) has found its way onto a 18-piece collection by way of Jordan's own Naruto fanboyship: a ninja franchise first launched in 1999 that's celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

For Coach, that means a cohesive unisex line-up of outerwear (think denim jackets embroidered with yellow-haired teenage heroes, and the big cozy boy sherpa coats of Coach's usual signature) alongside backpacks, utility packs, graphic sweatshirts, and sneaker-boot fusions.

Speaking of the collection, Coach's creative director Stuart Vevers said: "Working with Mike is always a great experience. He's a great collaborator because he always puts his heart and soul into everything he does, and because he brought something authentic and personal to the collection."

What's more, it's another glowing entry in menswear's big obsession with all things anime. Prada emblazoned pieces with character references in 2017, Kim Jones' Dior could well wardrobe the characters themselves. And now, for Coach's turn: a playful interpretation, and one that translates well to everyday wear.

So another bout of solid style from the land of the rising sun's pop cultural consciousness. And, thanks to Coach and Michael B. Jordan, the sun is still yet to set.
