14 Can't-Miss, Super-Easy Halloween Costumes for Men
Halloween is the one time of year where adults and children alike can come together and dress up like the hooligans we all want to be. The only problem is, what should you be? The anxiety and required work often leads to guys just throwing their hands up and saying, "Pass." Well, that doesn't have to happen. All it takes to have a fire costume for Halloween is a little bit of forethought, a creative imagination, and the right pop culture reference. And if you're not up for the creativity part, we can cover you there. Here are 14 costumes that just about any guy can pull off.
1| A Tethered from Us
The good news here is that if you try and recreate the Us aesthetic, you're almost certainly going to have the most comfortable costume out there. The only downside to this this costume is that there’s always a slight risk of going full horror on Halloween. Maybe replace the scissors with a scissors lapel pin, just to be safe.
2| Brad Pitt from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
You have a pair of jeans, a Champion tee, and a floral Hawaiian shirt? You’re in. Recreating one of the year's biggest films is a solid choice, plus, it's Brad. Just keep that Hawaiian shirt unbuttoned and maybe stay away from LSD for the night. You know, for good measure.
3| Michael from The Good Place
As luck would have it, dressing like the nicest demon in the world isn’t actually that difficult. A patterned suit will automatically get you there, but why rest on your laurels? A good pair of glasses and some wacky socks (it’s okay on Halloween!) will take you all the way to Good Place perfection.
4| Freddie Mercury
White tank top. Light wash jeans. Combat boots. Studded armband. Slick back that hair, and you’re ready to go. It’s so simple that it won’t feel like a costume, but Mercury’s Live Aid look is perhaps his most iconic.
5| Tom Hanks on Vacation
Sometimes, a deep swing pop culture reference is the exact kind of costume you want. And believe us… this is a look. Photographed by his wife, Rita Wilson, while having a little bit of summer time for himself this year, Tom Hanks’ tied-off dress shirt and swim shorts look is the stuff of legends.
6| Bradley Cooper in 'A Star is Born'
Sure, you could spend a year training your vocal chords to sing an octave lower. Or, you could throw on a plain T-shirt, a trucker jacket, and slick your hair back. Country-inspired accessories welcome.
7| The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
All '90s vibes are welcome for this. But especially welcome? Colorful printed shirts or sweaters, plus half-done overalls.
8| Steve Carell in The 40-Year-Old Virgin
Sure, this takes commitment. But if you're really, really anti-standard costumes, this one is a crowd pleaser. Wax your chest for real—just don't do it alone.
9| Rocky Balboa
Gym shorts, boxing gloves, and just all the damn muscles. Done and done.
10| The Dude
All you need to be the dude are your favorite pair of PJs and a thick, shawl-collar cardigan. Long hair and a scraggly beard are welcome additions.
11| Sleazy Justin Bieber
Picture yourself home sick from work and not planning on leaving your couch or having any company. What are you wearing? Put on a pair of shades, wear slippers, and you're good to go. Bonus if you don't wash your hair.
12| Jack Nicholson in Chinatown
J.J. Gittes is easy but still recognizable. Just a hat, overcoat, and some white tape across your nose, and you’re basically Jack Nicholson himself.
13| Marty McFly
A denim jacket and puffy red vest make for an accurate McFly costume, and also work for your fall wardrobe.
14| A Reservoir Dog
All you need is a black suit. Seriously. Add a skinny black tie and a pair of sunglasses to really drive it home.
