Burberry Dresses Up Harrods for Its Anniversary
Burberry celebrates the 175th anniversary of Harrods with a takeover that sees the London department store completely revisited and painted in Knight Blue, the symbolic color of the brand introduced by creative director Daniel Lee. A capsule collection of over 40 pieces including men's, women's, children's clothing, and accessories will also be available until February 29. Among other things, the collection includes a new Knight bag made of nappa leather, new reinterpretations of the Chess and Rocking Horse bags, the Box sneaker in a new color and new eyewear models. In short, these two icons of British fashion have never been more close-knit and united than this.
Harrods' famous green tents have been reimagined with the Burberry Check print, while the windows are decorated with camping elements such as ropes, draped waterproof fabrics, and carabiners. Inside Harrods, visitors can explore the Burberry Camping Corner, which offers classic English hiking accessories, including a knight-shaped bottle opener and hot water bottle. Additionally, Burberry has created a custom hamper for Harrods, which features a camping-inspired offering, complete with a limited edition Burberry picnic blanket in Knight Blue. Everything is connected by a thin blue thread, in fact for the entire month of February customers will also be able to find a Burberry food truck with a menu of typical English desserts and hot drinks, together with a space dedicated to picnics with benches strictly in Knight Blue.
“Burberry's takeover of Harrods brings together two icons of British luxury in a celebration of exploration and the outdoors. Daniel Lee has created a unique Burberry experience exclusively at Harrods that embraces our British spirit of fun and adventure. We are thrilled to invite customers to immerse themselves in this world of modern British luxury,” said Jonathan Akeroyd, chief executive of Burberry.
In addition to these spaces, visitors can fully immerse themselves in Burberry's rich history by exploring a space dedicated to rainwear. This area, which displays a collection of iconic Burberry trench coats, was specifically designed to tell the story of the heritage and heritage of the fashion house. And it doesn't end here. Burberry has customized a series of the famous Harrods teddy bears (cute teddy bears symbol of the department store), each of which wears a miniature hand-embroidered scarf, 175 of these will be on sale exclusively. For the first time in the history of Harrods, a fashion house redesigns the traditional green uniforms of its green men: Burberry transforms them into a Knight Blue check for the occasion.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with one of the largest and most famous department stores in the world," declared Burberry creative director Daniel Lee. “We are bringing together two iconic British brands by designing a capsule collection with exclusive products for Harrods and creating a unique in-store experience. The partnership is inspired by our heritage in exploration.”
