Henrik Lim isn't your typical sneakerhead. Going beyond collecting, he founded Grail Cleaning Services, a sneaker-focused care service. We caught up with the young entrepreneur to discuss why basic isn't at all bad, his passion for sneakers, and what style is to him.

He makes use of his basics.

"My attire always goes by the rules of plain, simple, and comfortable. I pretty much just alternate between a pair of raw denim jeans, black jeans, and gray or black sweat pants. All of my hoodies or shirts are white, gray, or black. I usually choose brands that fit perfectly for me. And, I always bring a denim jacket or an overshirt with me."

How clothes fit really matter to him.

"My style has changed a lot. Growing up, I just wore what was on top of my pile of shirts and pants. Really, whatever was comfortable and easy. Color and fit didn't even matter to me. Now, I still wear the same comfortable and easy clothes but I pay a lot more attention to the fit. I prefer a standard fit because it's the most comfortable."

His daily formula is pretty easy.

"The most essential item in my wardrobe would be my pair of white Common Projects. It's just a classic pair of sneakers. I pair that with a white or black shirt, black jeans, and a denim jacket for every day. Even for events, I'm all for basic and simple so I usually wear the same thing and change the shirt to a polo."

Sneakers are his passion.

"I’m very passionate when it comes to sneakers. I wear or buy shoes because of the genuine love that I have for them. Currently, my favorite pair are my Dior B23 High Top sneakers."

Style isn't just the clothes off his back.

"It definitely tells a lot about me as a person. Usually, the first impression a person gets from you sticks in their mind. Dressing well allows me to gain self-confidence and that’s an important aspect of communication. But, I believe we dress to please ourselves in the first place and before anyone else."
