Here's Your First Look at the Lanvin Lab by Future Collection
After months of waiting, part of the Lanvin Lab by Future collection, announced in June, is finally available on Lanvin's official website. Future, rapper and record producer from Atlanta, has designed the first capsule collection within the new concept of the Parisian fashion house: Lanvin Lab, an experimental creative hub that invites talents from various artistic disciplines to interpret the brand's codes with a personal vision. In the collection, which is quite transversal, there are trousers, jackets, dungarees, sweatshirts, T-shirts and various accessories (the flagship of the line). For the launch of a second part, we'll have to wait until the start of the new year.
Music, which has influenced the history of the maison, is the common thread of this first chapter of Lanvin Lab. The collection is, in fact, a declared homage to Marguerite, the daughter of the founder of the maison and musician Jeanne Lanvin. “With this collection, I created a vibe, something you can feel when you wear it,” Future said. "For her work, Jeanne Lanvin drew inspiration from her own life. In this sense, she and I are similar, we create from experience."
The Lanvin Lab by Future collection is all genderless, and the rapper's love for layering and tailoring is evident, with a strong focus on accessories. Metallic accents are present everywhere: on belts, bags, gloves, and leather goods. Two symbols full of meaning are then recurring throughout the line: on one hand, an eagle, which represents courage and freedom; on the other, the star, which evokes protection and indicates the way forward.
The capsule's highlight is probably the leather jacket with studs embroidered in the shape of a constellation. Future also dug into the archives to print the typographical characters of the Lanvin perfume campaigns of the 1930s and 1940s on the denim of his dungarees, jackets, and trousers, and above all he created his very personal sneaker: the Curb 3.0, in leather and suede, available in two color combinations, light blue and blue or red and orange.
