The Moncler x Sacai Collection Is a Look at the Future of Fashion
Sacai's collaboration with Moncler is a look at the future of fashion. Chitose Abe, creative director of the Japanese brand, imagined what the next 70 years of Moncler could look like, creating pieces that unite the past and future of the brand thus ushering in a new era. An ultra-modern collection is born—composed of two men's looks and two women's looks—one in total black and the other in shades of off-white and ecru, and will only be sold as a full look in selected Moncler and Sacai boutiques.
Each look is made up of several pieces, to allow the wearer to be able to deconstruct and reconstruct them in different ways, interacting with the garments themselves. The jackets can be assembled with trousers, transforming into a suit; zippers open the sleeves of a down jacket transforming it into a cape. The idea of ??clothes that can be worn as accessories is recurring in the collection. Internal straps transform a down jacket into a backpack; the same detail is integrated into the formal suit. The jacket and blazer slide off the shoulders to reveal a pleated dress inspired by lingerie, in a mix of elegance, femininity, and functionality distinctive of Sacai. Suit jackets, long and short down jackets, teddy vests, convertible trousers, and pleated dresses are part of the elements of a polymorphic game that brings the essence of the mountains into metropolitan territory.
Abe was inspired by the journey that Moncler has taken throughout its history which began in the mountains and then arrived in the city. The result is a line designed for anyone who wants to undertake that journey—living experiences that generate lasting memories that leave their mark over time. Moncler x Sacai combines the aesthetics of the Japanese brand with the original outdoor DNA of Moncler featuring garments with a tailored and sophisticated style from a pragmatic approach that are designed to give life to new forms and functionality.
