The Best Menswear from the (Very Nice) Mr Porter x Sunspel Collection

For its new collaboration with Sunspel, menswear dons Mr Porter looked through the Nottingham-based label's archives for inspiration—a space brimming with garments and swatches that tell the story of how a humble underwear manufacturer became a vaunted luxury label.

The luxury e-retailer's foremost takeaways were the weighty feel of vintage Sunspel pieces, the versatility of the brand’s warp knit mesh and the handsomeness of undyed cotton garms—elements that have come to distinguish the Mr Porter x Sunspel exclusive capsule collection, which launched today on the respective brand's webstores.

It's an eight-piece capsule collection comprising four silhouettes, each available in two earthy hues: ‘oat’ and ‘ecru’ (undyed). There’s the tank and camp collar shirt that employ the aforementioned warp knit mesh—a cotton textile developed for Sunspel’s Riviera Polo Shirt in the Fifties that’s breathable and lightweight and therefore ideal for the warmer months.

And then there’s the buttonless polo shirt and long-sleeve zip jacket, made from a slightly chunkier knit mesh formed from high-quality long-staple Egyptian cotton. These particular pieces have been crafted with summer in mind (see Andrew Georgiades living his best summer vacay life in the collaboration's campaign) and are sure to come in handy during late spring and early autumn, too.
