Here's Where Our Senators Got Their Elegant Face Masks
The State of the Nation Address (SONA) used to be like a red carpet event because of the fabulous wardrobes worn by lawmakers. But for the fifth SONA of President Duterte, lawmakers opted for a simple and toned down attire, as they were careful not to appear ostentatious amid a national crisis.
It’s hard to pull off a chic look while wearing a face mask, which is why some senators opted for this elegant white facemask invented in South Korea.

The mask's fretwork complements the lawmakers' embroidered attire and aligns with the simple look they were aiming for. Although the mask looks simple, it is a product of the newest technology in nano filters. The masks are called N98 nano filter masks.
How the N98 Nano Filter Mask Works
Invented in South Korea, the N98 nano filter masks use nanofibers or microscopic filaments that retain their filtering ability even after you wash it. A single mask could be reused up to 20 times.
Ordinary masks use static electricity on their surfaces to block particles. This static electricity disappears when you wash or spray alcohol on the masks. The N98 nano filter masks were made by crossing and aligning fine nanofibers to create small air holes that block viruses while allowing you to breathe easily.

“My boss forced me to use it because it is pleasant to the eyes. It is also environmentally friendly and safe,” said Dizon. "It's aesthetically nice and safe too because it has a 98-percent filtration of particles. It is also washable and reusable."
