The North Face x Gucci and Pokémon Go Just Accomplished the Most Ambitious Collab-Crossover Yet

Think pop-up shops... only this time in a game.

The year 2021 is already looking up. Well, at least, in the world of fashion. We are talking about, of course, the most unlikely and ambitious collaboration-slash-crossover that is The North Face x Gucci and Pokémon Go.

Let's go back to the start of this glorious collab. Though surprising, The North Face working with Gucci isn't entirely unlikely. After all, luxury outdoor wear has always been a thing. The partnership was first teased in September on TikTok (Gucci's latest choice of social media), and it's come to feature puffer jackets, boots, T-shirts, backpacks, and bobble hats.

Pokémon Go has gotten in on the action, however. Yup, luxury fashion, outdoor gear, and gaming have come together to bring the two labels on 100 PokéStops around the world. Think pop-up shops only this time digitally in select parks and stores.

The collab was made available on January 4, 2021, and it will only be up on the game for a limited time. Your Pokémon Go avatar will finally be able to wear items based on T-shirts, hats, and backpacks from The North Face x Gucci collection.

Unfortunately, much like real drops, the collection isn't available to all cities. In Asia, the collab will only be available on Pokémon Go in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Osaka, Tokyo, Macau, Taipei, Taichung, and several cities in Japan.

This isn't the first time Gucci has explored gaming. Late last year, pieces from a new collection made up of sustainably sourced materials called Gucci Off the Grid were dropped on The Sims 4. It included several accessories, from bags and shoes to accessories such as hats.
