Mickey Mouse Wears a Barong in This Cool Philip Stein Watch

Disney is celebrating its centennial year this October. The company that began as a modest studio and evolved to a powerhouse brand has captivated audiences young and old with its timeless stories and endearing characters worldwide. 

This is also the 95th birthyear of arguably Disney’s most famous character, Mickey Mouse. Founder Walt Disney’s series, the Silly Symphonies, featured various characters and relied on the wit and humor of Mickey cartoons, eventually earning Disney his first Academy Award for creating the character in 1932, the first of many Oscars over the years.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and Mickey Mouse has enjoyed many successful collaborations with various brands including apparel brands Lacoste on his 90th birthday, luxury fashion brand Gucci and Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo.

To celebrate its centennial year, luxury and wellness watch brand Philip Stein partnered with Disney for a line of limited-edition watches, exclusively available in the Philippines. Philip Stein and Disney are introducing two timepiece models featuring Mickey Mouse on the dial.

One model shows Mickey with the traditional red shorts, large yellow shoes and white gloves, while another shows the mouse wearing a very unique and classic barong Tagalog, a cultural nod to all his Filipino fans.

The watch has a 38mm diameter round case and bracelet in stainless steel with a size that’s suitable for any gender and is powered by an accurate quartz movement. It is rated at 3ATM water resistance and has a scratch-resistant sapphire glass that’s great for everyday use. Both models come with a gorgeous mother-of-pearl dial.

Just like all Philip Stein timepieces, the Mickey Mouse watch also features the brand’s proprietary Natural Frequency Technology, an innovative tech that bolsters the body’s innate bio-magnetic field that may help combat stress, improve cognitive functions, and enhance overall sleep quality.

Philip Stein only produced 500 pieces of each model and chances are, this limited-edition timepiece will fly off the shelves very soon. Each timepiece is presented in a special Disney-themed box featuring Mickey Mouse on the label.
