This is the third Asian location for the Tokyo institution popular for its Edo-style tempura. The menu of this 12-seater establishment includes everything you could expect from a chef who once ran a Michelin-starred restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. It certainly does not scrimp on ingredients—crowd favorites like Hokkaido scallops, Kobe beef, and fresh uni are regularly flown in from the markets in Japan. The omakase dinner features an indulgent 12 dishes of tempura between other courses. It's best to come during lunchtime when set menu prices are at half price.

Head upstairs and you’ll find a cozy café that serves simple pastries and savory dishes. Move one floor up and you can admire seasonal art exhibitions.

Sugar Ray: You’ve Just Been Poisoned

Its name may raise eyebrows, but the Sugar Ray is gaining traction for all the right reasons. A few months ago, the watering hole left its home at Ekkamai and moved to new digs at the Octo Seafood Bar. The revamped speakeasy sports a more contemporary look these days, with a dimly lit bar and minimalist fixtures, but still serves some of the best cocktails in the city.
