New Range Rover Evoque is the Compact SUV of Your Dreams
The parade of SUVs continues with the launch in Manila recently of the all-new Range Rover Evoque, the compact SUV from British carmaker Land Rover.
A portion of Bonifacio Global City’s High Street was converted into an “offroad” facility to highlight the features of the refreshed version of the compact luxury SUV.
First unveiled in 2010, the second generation of the Range Rover Evoque improves on the features and amenities of the original.
“Underneath the skin is an engineering and technical revolution,” said Nick Rogers, Executive Director for Product Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover. “The new chassis makes the most of the stiffer body, ensuring the characteristic ride comfort and refinement of a Range Rover. The Evoque is now smarter than ever. The software that sits behind our infotainment system has been refined to provide a more intuitive customer experience.”
The all-new Evoque is created with Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture, making it wider and longer. Its wheelbase is now 100 millimeters longer than the old model. As a result, there’s 20mm extra rear kneeroom and an increase in small item stowage, such as a larger glove box and center cubby that can now fit tablets, handbags and bottles.
The luggage space is also 10 percent larger (591 litres) and can easily fit a set of golf clubs or two flight suitcases.
You can also say goodbye to flooding anxiety as the new Evoque can conquer water levels of 600mm, a full 100 mm higher than the previous model.
Outside, Land Rover says the new Range Rover Evoque is built with a reductive design approach focused on simplicity. The unmistakable Evoque silhouette is refined ever further, with pronounced shoulders and distinctive wheel arches. New features include super-slim Premium LED headlamps. The R-Dynamic HSE models come with burnished copper accents that heighten the visual appeal.
Other new technologies in the latest Evoque include Hill Descent Control, Gradient Release Control and All Terrain Progress Control. These go with active safety features such as Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking (for R-Dynamic HSE units) and Driver Condition Monitor that help keep occupants safe.
A significant feature in the new Evoque is ClearSight Rear-View, which transforms the rear-view mirror into an HD video screen. With the flick of a switch, a camera from the top of the car displays the situation behind the vehicle in high definition. The screen provides a wider (50-degree) field of vision and superior visibility in low light. This is especially useful if rear visibility is compromised.
Meanwhile, ClearSight Ground View, which Land Rover says is a world-first, effectively makes the bonnet invisible by projecting camera imagery onto the upper touchscreen to show the driver a 180-degree view under the front of the vehicle. Land Rover says this is especially useful when negotiating difficult parking spaces, navigating high city center curbs or tackling rough terrain.
The Philippines is getting four variants of the all-new Range Rover Evoque: SE 2.0 Diesel at P5.09 million, R-Dynamic HSE 2.0 Diesel at P5.49 million, R-Dynamic HSE 2.0 Petrol at P5.59 million, and R-Dynamic HSE MHEV 2.0 Petrol at P6.19 million.
