The All-New Electrified BMW M5 and M5 Touring are Officially in the Country
The all-new BMW M5 and M5 Touring are finally available in the Philippines. On Friday (July 25), billionaire Ramon Ang’s SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. unveiled both high-performance models from the German marque to the local market.
First launched in 1985, the BMW E28 M5 was the world’s fastest production sedan at the time. Since then, each generation has redefined the balance between comfort and speed. The M5 combines motorsport DNA and luxury, blending everyday usability with racetrack performance.

Inspired by BMW's M Hybrid V8 Le Mans prototype, the M5 sedan is part endurance race car, part electrified grand tourer. At the heart of the all-new M5 lineup is the groundbreaking M Hybrid system, which fuses a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 with an electric motor to produce 727 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. Top speed is 305 kph, and its electric-only range can reach up to 69 km for the sedan. The dual-character setup allows for quiet, zero-emission cruising in the city and ferocious acceleration on the track.

The M5 Touring, meanwhile, possesses the same M Hybrid powertrain and a more practical, spacious configuration and adds a long roof and a spacious rear hatch. It combines a 4.4?liter twin?turbo V8 with an integrated electric motor, creating a total output of around 717?hp and 1,000?Nm torque. It can go from zero to 100 kph in 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 305?kph with the optional M Driver’s Package. Switch to electric-only and drivers can get up to 67?km of range.

Culturally, the M5 continues to captivate. In the movie Ronin, a classic E34 BMW M5 became emblematic of high-octane European car culture. The car chase scene in the film is still praised among car enthusiasts as one of the best ever. While the 2025 M5 and M5 Touring may not yet have their cinematic starring roles, their lineage is inseparable from their on-screen legacy.

Both BMW M5 models start at P12.79 million. Each M5 it comes with a portable charger, a 5-year comprehensive BMW warranty, and an eight-year battery warranty.
