This Is What Lamborghini's All-Electric GT, the Lanzador, Looks Like

There’s always something interesting at the annual Monterey Car Week, and this year’s event was no exception. Lamborghini unveiled its 100 percent electric concept model that’s already intended for production soon. The Lanzador  is a 2+2 UItra GT that comes with high ground clearance yet stays true to Lamborghini’s unmistakable DNA and silhouette. The Lanzador is part of Lamborghni’s “Direzione Cor Tauri” strategy toward decarbonization and electrification and is a further evolution of the new V12 plug-in hybrid-powered Lamborghini Revuelto, promising best-in-class dynamics and a fun-to-drive character through an electric powertrain.

Just like any other Lamborghini, everything in the Lanzador is about high-performance. It has an electric motor on each of its axles, which makes it an all-wheel drive system that has active e-torque vectoring at the rear. The energy comes from a new-generation battery system that ensures plenty of power and long range.

The Lanzador features a newly developed Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics control system that uses significantly more sensors and actuators that improves the vehicle’s algorithm, allowing the software to better control the behavior of hardware so the car’s driving dynamics can be more precisely tailored to drivers’ preferences. Using active aerodynamics, air suspension, rear-wheel steering, electric torque distribution, and Lamborghini’s Wheelspeed Control, the combination of these systems allow the Lanzador’s superior handling and better driving dynamics.

This concept car’s new grand touring proportions also has better cabin space within a spaceship-inspired styling. The interior layout was intentionally created to “feel like a pilot” based on the design philosophy of Lamborghini. The idea of a 2+2 GT lifestyle concept allows more rear space of the cabin that can also be used for carrying things like sports equipment or luggage. A trunk is also cleverly concealed under the short and steeply sloping hood, while adjustable rear seats and a variable luggage compartment in the rear make the concept car adaptable to most everyday situation. The Italian marque says its taut, clean lines are authentically Lamborghini and full of tension, just like those that marked other legendary models, including the Sesto Elemento, Murcielago, and Countach LPI 800-4.

Lamborghini also applied sustainable materials to the Lanzador’s cabin, all of which are made in Italy. The wool comes from Australian Merino sheep imported to Europe only once a year to reduce carbon footprint, which is used to dress the dashboard, seats and door panels. Even the stitching is made of sustainable material, using regenerated nylon, and recycled plastic and fibers. The carbon on the center console and door panels is composed of a new, two-layer composite material. The leather is tanned with water sourced from olive oil production. 

A large glass tailgate, adjustable rear seats, and a variable luggage compartment in the rear all help make the Lanzador adaptable to daily driving

The only bad news is that customers looking to own a Lanzador will have to wait a while as the preview of the production vehicle will not roll off Lamborghini’s iconic Sant’Agata Bolognese manufacturing until 2028.
