There's A New BMW 5-Series and It's Got All the Upgrades You'll Need

BMW’s new 5-Series is here and it comes with plenty of luxury upgrades. It starts with the exterior; the double kidney grille of the 520i midsized sedan from the German carmaker has been reshaped and is now wider and stands a bit higher, dropping further into its front apron with a single-piece surround bumper. The headlights get a slimmer contour and now comes with adaptive LED lamps that features a high beam assistant and adaptive cornering function for added safety and better night vision. On the rear lamps, it gets a black edge treatment with a set of new L-shaped graphic.

Inside, the new 5-Series is given some tech and comfort upgrades befitting the premium executive sedan market it’s positioned in. The new BMW 520i now has Comfort Access system, which offers easier locking and loading functions including the rear trunk Kick Function to allow hands-free opening. It also has sensors to activate the Soft Close function that pulls the doors in quietly adding to the vehicle’s luxurious feel and opulence. The cabin seats are clad in Dakota Leather and comes with an Ambient Lighting Package and 4-Zone Automatic air conditioning. It is peppered with open-pored fine wood interior trims and pearl chrome finishers that adds to its premium interior feel.

The cockpit sports a new 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster Display with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system that has the BMW Gesture Control, giving the driver and passengers the best-in-class intuitive infotainment system. There’s also a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon surround system with connectivity options such as the Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Powering the new 5-Series is its latest generation four-cylinder in-line powerplant with BMW’s BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, helping propel the the car from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds. For a low displacement engine, the rated peak torque of 290 Nm stretches on a broad bandwith, from 1,350 to 4,250 rpm, enabling the car to speed through stop-and-go traffic or navigate confidently through twisty highways.

Just like any brand-new BMW, the 5-Series now comes with a comprehensive five-year warranty or 200,000 kms, whichever comes first. The new BMW 520i Luxury is priced at P4.29 million and is now available in all BMW dealerships for viewing.
