Toyota
At the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Toyota showcased an impressive lineup of innovative vehicles at their booth, highlighting their commitment to sustainability and versatility. Among the stars was the Kayoibako, a versatile battery electric vehicle (BEV) first unveiled during the Japan Mobility Show last year. It’s designed to adapt to a variety of needs and can seamlessly transition from a delivery van during the week to a fully equipped camping car on weekends. Its customizable software and hardware make it an ideal fit for various lifestyles and businesses.
Another highlight was the bZ4X, which, although currently unavailable in the Philippines, has generated buzz since its conceptual launch in 2021. As a BEV, it exemplifies Toyota’s vision for a sustainable future.
The Corolla Cross H2 Concept was also on display, featuring an internal combustion engine powered by hydrogen, which produces virtually zero carbon emissions. This model draws technology inspiration from the GR Corolla race car, representing a cutting-edge approach to environmentally friendly driving.
Rounding out the lineup was the new Toyota Camry, which is set to launch nationwide soon. With its advanced hybrid electric system and emphasis on fuel efficiency, the Camry not only embodies luxury but also symbolizes Toyota's ongoing commitment to carbon neutrality.
What was also exciting about the Toyota booth was the revival of the Tamaraw nameplate. Toyota has acknowledged the complexities faced by developing economies with limited public transportation options. To address this challenge, the Japanese brand said it is committed to modernizing commercial and public utility vehicles (PUVs) by continuously enhancing its internal combustion engine (ICE) models and manufacturing processes, which provide employment for thousands.
The upcoming Toyota IMV 0 (Zero), also known as the Next Generation Tamaraw, is set to play a significant role in this ecosystem. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has not only improved fuel efficiency but is also transforming the vehicle's production, distribution, and customer utilization for both individual and commercial users.
We saw the next generation Tamaraw and it looks great and comes with a flexible platform that can transform itself into a stylish adventure vehicle for the family or be fitted with various body designs to fit any enterprise or commercial use.
Changan
Changan Auto celebrated its first anniversary under Inchcape Philippines by showcasing exciting new products including the all-new Hunter, touted as the world's first range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) pickup truck. The Hunter features a robust body-on-frame design, advanced suspension systems, a towing capacity of 2.5 tons, and a luxurious cabin equipped with power seats and a 12.3-inch LCD central display.
In addition, Changan introduced the Uni-T Midnight Edition, which enhances the existing model with stylish upgrades including a gloss black front lip, blacked-out grille and side skirts, and carbon-finished accents with only 10 units allocated for the local market.
Chery
Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) launched the new Tiggo 2 Pro, emphasizing its blend of technology and stylish design aimed at a younger market segment and first-time car owners with a very competitive price that starts at P708,000.
The crossover SUV features modern aesthetics, including automatic projector headlights, a checkered flag front grille, and 16-inch dark alloy wheels. It is equipped with advanced technology such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an HD reverse camera, and various driving modes powered by a new 1.5L Dual Overhead Cam engine. The interior boasts premium materials and practical features like a multi-level gadget desk and expandable trunk space.
In addition to the Tiggo 2 Pro, Chery also previewed the facelifted Tiggo 5x Pro and offered test drives for several models, including the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid and Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV. Froilan Dytianquin, group managing drector of United Asia Automotive Group Inc., the official distributor of Chery, highlighted the importance of staying relevant in the evolving automotive market, stating that these models not only meet modern consumer demands but also inspire a new generation of drivers.
Foton
Foton unveiled its first fully electric Traveller Sierra EV Van that is designed for eco-conscious businesses and organizations. Its zero-emission performance combined with spacious and flexible seating and cargo capacity makes it a sustainable choice for group transportation. It has a range of over 300 kilometers and has a one-hour DC fast-charging capability with a top speed of 120kph.
The brand also unveiled its new Foton Wonder Pickup with flatbed at the show.
Honda
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) exhibition at PIMS carries the theme "Sporty DNA: Redefined" as it unveiled the new Civic RS e:HEV variant, which joins Honda’s expanding lineup of hybrid vehicles with enhanced Honda SENSING capabilities and Google Built-in for voice connectivity.
The booth also highlighted limited editions of the CR-V V Turbo and the exclusive Mugen Civic Type R Group A, alongside two motorcycles: the EM1 e: battery electric scooter and the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP.
In addition to new model launches, HCPI introduced a Honda Leasing Program to streamline vehicle purchasing, offering flexible financing and comprehensive after-sales services.
Isuzu
Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) unveiled its latest innovations that enhance the driving experience and support the country's carbon neutrality goals. Under the theme “Innovations for You,” IPC highlighted vehicles that cater to both personal and commercial needs. Key models included the Isuzu D-MAX 4x4, featuring advanced safety technologies and customizable options for off-road enthusiasts, and the more premium Isuzu mu-X Executive Edition, designed for comfort with VIP seating and sophisticated interior finishes.
Additionally, IPC introduced the Isuzu TRAVIZ Concept Cargo Van, ideal for logistics, and the heavy-duty Isuzu EW5 Tractor Head, which boasts powerful performance for hauling operations.
A standout was the Isuzu N-Series EV Concept Truck, an electric light-duty vehicle aimed at urban deliveries, equipped with a robust electric motor and a 40kWh battery. IPC's holistic EVISION Plan aims to assist customers in transitioning to electric vehicles efficiently, reinforcing Isuzu's commitment to innovation.
Kia
Kia Philippines launched the new Kia EV9 GT Line, an all-electric, all-wheel-drive SUV that exemplifies boldness and innovation while emphasizing sustainability, which is the main thrust of the Ayala-owned AC Mobility Group. Awarded the prestigious title of World Car of the Year, the EV9 GT Line combines power and style, making it an exceptional choice for families and adventurers alike. Its spacious three-row cabin ensures comfort for all passengers, while the sporty GT Line trim enhances its aggressive exterior design and luxurious interior finishes.
With a high-capacity battery, the EV9 GT Line not only offers an impressive driving range but also features fast charging capabilities and advanced technological integrations. The SUV offers a premier option for those seeking a luxurious, eco-friendly driving experience.
Mazda
Mazda Philippines has arguably made one of the most visually stunning booth displays by hanging a 700kg MX-5 race car on its wall that perpendicularly positions it with a customized MX-5 by renowned Japanese tuning company Auto Exe. Mazda announced this partnership that emphasizes its commitment to enhancing driving performance and aesthetics.
Among the highlights was the new Mazda3, featuring advanced technology and refined design, which continues to captivate car enthusiasts. Additionally, the Mazda CX-5 and CX-30 models were presented with performance upgrades from Auto Exe, promising an exhilarating driving experience combined with Mazda’s signature style.
The collaboration with Auto Exe introduces a range of performance enhancements and bespoke styling options tailored specifically for Mazda vehicles. The integration of Auto Exe’s modifications is designed not only to enhance performance but also to maintain the integrity and reliability that Mazda is known for. The partnership reflects Mazda's dedication to delivering a personalized experience for its customers, catering to those who seek both style and substance in their vehicles under the supervision of Mazda Philippines.
Another notable display was the Mazda MX-30 R-EV which is an innovative and versatile plug-in hybrid that combines Mazda's signature driving enjoyment with eco-friendly technology. This sleek and modern car is powered by a 2.0-liter rotary engine that acts as a generator, extending the vehicle's range while maintaining impressive efficiency. The MX-30 R-EV offers a seamless driving experience, blending electric and gasoline power for enhanced performance and reduced emissions.
MG
MG unveiled its all-new HS SUV at the PIMS, coinciding with the brand's 100th anniversary this year. The PHEV variant features a powerful combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, achieving zero to 100 kph in just 6.8 seconds and offering an electric-only range of up to 75 miles. The updated design features a more sophisticated appearance with increased cabin space, improved technology, and enhanced comfort.
Inside, the new HS is equipped with dual 12.3-inch high-definition displays for infotainment and driver information, along with a host of connectivity features. The interior also emphasizes quality materials and spaciousness, with boot capacity increased to 507 liters. Safety is a priority, with an enhanced MG Pilot package featuring advanced driver assistance systems as standard.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) went with the theme "Awaken the Adventurous Spirit Within You," with its booth featuring a striking mountain design that embodies the brand’s commitment to adventure.
Highlighting the event was the world premiere of the Mitsubishi DST Concept, a spacious 7-seater SUV designed for comfort and robust handling, making it ideal for diverse adventures.
Other adventure-ready vehicles on display include the All-New XFORCE, Triton Rally Car Replica, Montero Sport Black Series Ralliart, and Xpander Cross Outdoor Edition. Attendees also engaged in interactive experiences, including off-road test drives of the All-New XFORCE and daily programs featuring popular Filipino artists. There were also exclusive promotions that offer discounts for reservations made at the booth.
Ritsu Imaeda, MMPC President & CEO, emphasized that this year's event is a celebration of Mitsubishi's adventurous ethos, inviting everyone to experience the thrill of their latest offerings.
Suzuki
Suzuki Philippines unveiled the innovative eVX electric concept car, alongside the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions. This signals the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions that address current and future needs with the current and future offerings as Suzuki's multi-pathway approach to achieving carbon neutrality, which extends beyond merely transitioning to electric vehicles. The eVX, designed as an 'Emotional Versatile Cruiser,' features a progressive SUV silhouette that sets it apart from traditional models, incorporating a spacious cabin, high ground clearance, and advanced aerodynamic design for efficiency. The concept offers an impressive range of up to 600 km and is expected to enter the market by 2025.
Additionally, the Jimny Rhino Editions were showcased, enhancing the popular model's rugged appeal with specialized accessories while retaining its powerful 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
BMW
BMW showcased the i5 M60 xDrive BEV Touring, the brand’s take on a German electric vehicle luxury wagon that combines performance, luxury, and practicality. This all-electric touring model showcases BMW's commitment to sustainable mobility without compromising on the driving experience.
Equipped with dual motors that deliver an exhilarating power and instantaneous torque, the i5 M60 xDrive promises a thrilling ride while achieving impressive range and efficiency. Its sleek design is complemented by advanced aerodynamics, ensuring both style and functionality for modern drivers.
On the German brand’s center stage was the BMW XM, a luxurious and powerful addition to its lineup that embodies the brand's commitment to performance and innovation. This plug-in hybrid SUV features a striking design, characterized by bold lines and an aggressive stance, making a strong statement on the road. Under the hood, the XM combines a robust 4.4 liter V8 hybrid engine with an electric motor, ensuring exhilarating acceleration and dynamic driving capabilities and a distinctively M-sounding exhaust note.
Ford
Ford Philippines unveiled the Ford Ranger Raptor V6. This powerful pickup truck boasts a formidable 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, delivering exceptional performance both on and off-road. With its aggressive stance, advanced suspension system, and cutting-edge off-road technologies, the Ranger Raptor is designed to tackle challenging terrains while offering a thrilling driving experience.
Ford emphasized the vehicle's rugged capability and versatility, making it a perfect choice for adventure seekers and workhorse demands alike.
Nissan
Nissan held the local debut and preview of the Nissan Magnite, a stylish and practical compact crossover with its bold design that appeals to first-time car buyers seeking reliability and flair. The Nissan X-Trail e-Power was also previewed, which builds on the success of the Kicks with innovative technology that balances power and efficiency, catering to owners who value practical sustainability.
The event culminated in the launch of the All-New Z Nismo, celebrating 40 years of Nismo heritage with its striking design and performance enhancements. The Z Nismo features a more aerodynamic body, gorgeous 19-inch Rays alloy wheels, powered by a VR30DDTT V6 twin-turbo engine with a higher 420hp tune by Nismo. Priced at P4.688 million, this model is now open for reservations exclusively at the Nissan Performance Center Quezon Avenue.

Jetour
Jetour unveiled two new models—the X50 compact SUV and the T2 Terminator. Managing Director Miguelito Jose highlighted these models as the latest additions to the brand’s growing lineup, designed for both urban drivers and targeting off-road enthusiasts as well.
The Jetour X50 features a 1.5L turbocharged engine, with a starting price of P888,000. The T2 Terminator 4x4 is equipped with a 2.0L TGDI engine, rated at 251 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, which is priced at P2,898,000. Both models come with a comprehensive warranty of 1 million kilometers or 6 years, plus a 10-year engine warranty.
