This Year's Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup Speeds to Its Exciting Conclusion 

This year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup is nearing its conclusion with Leg 3 happening this month, so what better time to do a recap of the exciting action so far. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) brought drivers and fans to the Clark International Speedway (CIS) for an intense race weekend during Leg 2 back in August. 

A total of 28 drivers competed for podium places and points in the Circuit Championship across three categories—Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting classes, while the Autocross Challenge had influencers and members of the media take on the challenging obstacles on track.

Leading the way in Circuit Championship action, Jay Lao of Happy Hotels/OT Racing Team finished at the top of the podium in the Promotional Class followed by Toyota Team Cebu’s Alan Palacios in second and Jarond Mesina in third.

The Sporting Class saw Jiro Garbes of JB Racing/Toyota San Fernando finish first as Russell Cabrera of Toyota Team Cebu and Royce Sarmiento of RMS Cars Racing Team claimed the second and third spots. Meanwhile in the Super Sporting Class, R Racing Team’s Bryan Co took top honors while Inigo Anton of Toyota North EDSA—Obengers Racing Team and Gerard Loy of R Racing Team finished second and third respectively.

Bouncing back from the previous leg, Miguel Romulo claimed first place in the Celebrity Promotional Autocross, sharing the podium with Ashley Gosiengfiao in second place and Carla Lizardo in the third. The Celebrity Sporting Autocross had Jules Aquino finish on top followed by Arron Villaflor and Enzo Pineda.

Pablo Salapantan won first place in the Promotional Media Autocross followed by Niko Villegas and Siegwald Go. Jamil Lacuna successfully defended his number one spot with another winning finish in the Sporting Media Class while Roy Robles and Ronald de los Reyes finished second and third. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Gran Turismo (GR GT) Cup racers also returned for Autocross Challenge action. Luis Moreno won first place while Russel Reyes and Mark Elman finished in second and third places respectively.

If all the high-octane on-track action wasn’t enough, everyone also got to finally see the all-new GR 86, the newest addition to the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing line up. The much-awaited sports car made its way around the speedway together with the GR Yaris to the delight of the fans in attendance.
