A Classic Car Show and Some German Beer to Celebrate 50 Years of Porsche Design

This weekend, luxury retail brand Porsche Design celebrates two significant events: the 50th anniversary of the brand and Oktoberfest, the season of beer drinking. In partnership with Radeberger Pilsner Beer, which also marks 150 years of German beermaking, these two brands will have a night of partying at the Grand Atrium of the Newport World Resorts.
Earlier this year, Porsche AG introduced the limited-edition Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS, which was created to commemorate the half-century of Porsche Design. With only 750 units made, the first one was placed on display together with a fully restored black classic 1972 Porsche 911 Targa.

Ferdinand Alexander (F.A.) “Butzi” Porsche, the grandson of his namesake Ferdinand, was the designer of one of the most iconic sportscars of all time—the Porsche 911. Besides being involved in the family business, he also founded Porsche Design, a studio and luxury retail lifestyle brand that has since expanded into a global luxury brand.
The event at Newport World Resort—entitled One Origin—comes with a mini car show featuring two classic Porsche 911 Targa sports cars and a modern Porsche 911 GT3. Car aficionados will be delighted to see a very rare 1967 soft-window Porsche 911 Targa, which is one of only two known to be in the country. The early model Targas were called soft-window because the rear windshield is made of removable plastic sheets. When removed, it gives the driver an almost open top convertible feel and can be easily placed back to protect the occupants against rain.
Also on display is a 1977 Porsche 911 Targa. Sometimes known as the G-Series late first-generation Porsche 911 with an extended rubber bumper, the model was popular in the 1970s.
Lastly, fans can check out a bright orange 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 with the rare and desirable manual transmission.
One Origin is happening from October 10 until October 16, and is the second part of a three-part 50th anniversary celebration that started in Okada Manila last July. Porsche Design Manila president Hans Yao said that the Targa models on display are a tribute to the 1972 Porsche Targa and 2022 Porsche Targa 4 GTS, both of which are on display at the Porsche Museum.
“We wanted our show cars to be aligned with the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design and Targa tribute car theme,” Yao explains.
Aside from the Porsche Design merchandise and show cars on display, the event also showcases the origins of Radeberger Pilsner beer. Aside from making great sports cars, Germany is also known for its beer. Oktoberfest is an annual festival that originated in Munich, Germany in 1810. Radeberger Pilsner, an authentic German beer, was the first German brewery to create German-style Pilsner crafted and brewed only in one place. It uses soft water from its own well and only the best ingredients to create a true German pilsner.
On Friday, October 14, there will be music from Kudos loves 80s band, acoustic star Eloisa, ‘50s and ‘60s tunes from young band Nextone, and club music from DJ Marc Marasigan. There will be free-flowing Radeberger beer will be served, alongside delectable treats from Ichiba and Brotzeit for a minimal entry fee of P1,500.
