The Whisky Library Launches New Cocktail Menu

The Whisky Library at Newport World Resorts opened in July 2023 and has since become a favorite watering hole for upscale patrons and guests. A pet project of tycoon Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Inc. as well as Travellers International Hotel Group Inc (the parent firm of NWR), the bar boasts one of the largest collections of whisky and spirits in the country, not to mention a classic speakeasy vibe conducive to a relaxing night out over drinks after a long day at the office.

The first collection of specialty cocktails whipped up by the bar’s resident mixologists paid tribute to classic films and superstars of the silver screen. On its first anniversary, the Whisky Library launched an all-new menu of its signature cocktails inspired by famous paintings.

According to Chloe Herman, NWR’s director for F&B, the new menu reflects the team’s constant pursuit of improvement and practice of listening to its customers. They figured out that many bar guests are often undecided about what they want to drink for the evening. 

The Beach, for example is inspired by Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” It’s made from a recycled Grey Goose vodka bottle turned into a glass, the drink is composed of Grey goose vodka (what else?), Plantation Pineapple Rum, Banana Liqueur, Coconut, Passionfruit Puree, Orange, Lime, Mint, and Bundaberg Ginger Beer.

Colonial Farmer, meanwhile, was born out of the Grant Wood’s classic “American Gothic.” The drink is made of honey, lemon, peach, mint, and your choice of bourbon whisky.

Meanwhile, Whisky Romance gives us a taste of the passion captured in Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss.” It features your choice of whisky, salted caramel vodka, toffee nut, espresso, vanilla gelato, and dark chocolate from Davao.

There are 22 other signature cocktails plus four mocktails spread out over seven chapters—Tropical & Lively, Soft Sour & Spice, Bright & Refreshing, Decadent & Indulgent, Bold & Adventurous, Shared & Experienced Together, and Flavorful & Non-Alcoholic. 

“The new menu effectively replaces the previous cocktail menu—Volume 1—that was inspired by famous movies and movie stars,” says NWR chief markting officer David Jorden. “The new one, Volume 2 is all about famous works of art. For this edition, we separated the menu into different chapters, each representing a different flavor profile of cocktails. That way, everyone is encouraged to explore and discover new favorites, new flavors, new experiences with every visit.”

Of course, there is still the vast selection of whiskies and spirits one can order a la carte. With the sheer volume of drinks available at the Whisky Library, it’s not a stretch to say that it might take someone months, even years, to try everything.
