Lately, Anne Curtis has been making the news for her acts of charity, such as dedicating her London Marathon run to raise funds for the children of Marawi. Now, she’s encouraging Filipinos to learn mental health first aid.

“Did you know that one in five individuals are living with a mental health challenge? Someone you know may be experiencing mental health challenges like anxiety and depression,” she says in an Instagram video posted by Sunny Ku.

She goes on to announce that Filipinos can get trained and certified on how to administer mental health first aid at EPCALM Leukemia Foundation of the Philippines’ 5th Understanding Grief Conference. The theme of the conference is “Mental Health First Aid: Toward Creating Communities of Recovery and Hope.”

According to National Council for Behavioral Health, Mental Health First Aid is “an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.”

The guest speakers include Tony Cloud, a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor from the National Council for Behavioral Health in Washington D.C. The conference will be held from May 31 to June 1 2018, at the Barcelon Hall in The Medical City, Ortigas Center. EPCALM advocates Boy Abunda, Kuh Ledesma, and Heart Evangelista will be present as well.
