Happiness is a New Timepiece Collection and Afternoon Tea Courtesy of Chopard

Happiness comes in different forms. Last March 20, which, coincidentally is also the International Day of Happiness, it came as tea sandwiches, petit fours, and classic timepieces.

Raffles Makati’s Writer’s Bar was blushing in pink, accessorized with bouquets of flowers, plush pillows, and even books in the dainty hue, as it celebrated the joyous day in collaboration with Chopard, the Swiss manufacturer and retailer of luxury watches, jewelry, and fine accessories. The prestigious brand, through the by-invite-only afternoon tea party, expressed its inherent optimism more powerfully than ever by choosing to celebrate a universal happiness that transcends cultural, linguistic, generational, and social barriers.

Chopard boutiques all over the world—from Paris, Tokyo, and London, to New York, Milan and Hong Kong—were dressed in fragrant roses to introduce and launch its latest precious watch: the Happy Sport Rose de Caroline timepiece, which is adorned with pink sapphires, rubies and the legendary dancing diamonds, Chopard’s enduring signature symbolizing joie de vivre.

Macaron and tea

Not only does the elegant timepiece elicit smiles from the those who wear it, but it also spread joy to beneficiaries, as part of the proceeds of the sales of the Happy Diamonds collection will be donated to child protection associations. This includes fashion model Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund, which has since been renamed All Hands and Hearts, which supports the reconstruction of schools in areas devastated by natural disasters. The maison is also involved with the Naked Heart Foundation, which aids underprivileged children.

Bite-sized savouries

To complement Chopard’s launch in Manila, the chefs at Raffles Makati designed a three-tier tray of sweets and savouries that evoke the same refinement as the international brand. There was a pomelo and cheese scone, complete with jam and clotted cream, a Parmesan sable with duck rillette, a lobster medallion with caviar and XO cocktail sauce, pickled cheese with grilled zucchini leaf, and a foie gras with port jelly on a piece of pumpernickel.

The confectionary temptations included a raspberry eclair, red fruit financier, strawberry tiramisu tart, double chocolate cupcake, lavender honey brittle, and pink truffle macaron.

Petit fours

Beverages to down these bites with included a pink lychee mocktail, a selection of fine tea and coffee, Cita Bel, and Möet & Chandon rosé.
