The wet season is here, as officially announced by our beloved PAG-ASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.) And while the season’s rains are a welcome change from the recent summer heat wave, they unfortunately still cause albeit a different kind of stress to us city dwellers. Talk about flash floods, traffic jams, and then the sudden decline of available taxis on the streets. So do carry on with your plan for a quick getaway to our go-to-destination south of Manila. Because even if it’s pouring, Tagaytay is still a good idea.

Get in on the fun at Adverb Restaurant and Bar.

It’s hard to please everyone, but Adverb Restaurant and Bar is certainly trying and seems to be succeeding. This recent addition to the long list of food spots in Tagaytay appears to have found the formula on how to win over families and party people alike. By day, it’s a family restaurant dishing out generous portions of Filipino and Western favourites while also entertaining guests with billiards, darts, beer pong, and Playstation games. It then transforms itself into a party place after dinner service during the weekends. DJs take over around 9pm, so come with your dancing shoes on.

Eat like an army man at The Barracks Food Camp on the Ridge.

With thirty stalls selling different kinds of food, reaching the army’s daily calorie requirement of about 3,000 would be quite easy in The Barracks Food Camp. The two-story food park offers a wide range of flavors from local to international through its full meals, street food, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's karaoke on weeknights, and live bands on the weekend, too.

Head back to where food really comes from and renew your appreciation for what ends up on your plate. Organic vegetables, root crops, and herbs are grown in Malipayon Farms without the use of chemically engineered insecticides. They let mother nature do the job by employing the frogs in the area to eat the insects instead. Situated in Silang rather than Tagaytay, the farm is open to guests though visits should be scheduled in advance. They also deliver their organic produce to Alabang, Makati, and Bonifacio Global City.
