Summer is a season that comes and goes, but it’s a vibe that we can always come home to. Whether it’s decorating with vibrant pops of color or filling the common areas with indoor plants, easy updates can help us achieve the summer-inspired home of our dreams. Take inspiration from these five tropical-inspired celebrity homes when sprucing up your space. From having gorgeous outdoor areas to showcasing beautiful pieces of furniture, each home is unique and can make you feel like you’re living in a posh resort:

DEREK RAMSAY'S GLASS HOUSE IN PALAWAN

Aside from owning two islands in Palawan, Derek and his family chose to build a beach house in the town of San Vicente in 2013. While we're used to seeing concrete homes with wooden touches, the actor opted to use materials that are perfect for the location and glass seems to be the ideal choice. Not only does it let light in, it also offers an unobstructed view of paradise.

COCO MARTIN'S 2,000-SQ M DREAM HOME

Within a huge property that he acquired, actor Coco Martin built not just a house for himself, but beautiful spaces for his parents and siblings, too. In personalizing his haven, Coco chose designer pieces and notable works of art. The living area can be likened to a hotel lobby, with its plush seating pieces and a horizontal amber sculpture by artist Trek Valdizno as focal point.

To match the airy and spacious indoor areas, Coco made sure that the outdoor area is equally mesmerizing. Aside from an inviting pool, there's also a veranda for hosting parties, a gazebo for quiet afternoons, a koi fishpond, and a cabana that doubles as guest house.

KATRINA HALILI'S PALAWAN HIDEAWAY

After purchasing 13 hectares of land in El Nido, Palawan, actress Katrina Halili put it to good use by building a three-bedroom home, setting up a farm, and maximizing the benefits of living within paradise. Aside from taking care of a few animals, they also have a small rice field and a piggery rented out to one of the locals.

The house matches the simplicity of life in Palawan—the rooms have basic furnishings, a calming view of the outdoors, and a vibe that makes you want to forget your worries. The master bedroom on the second floor has a minimalist aesthetic, an access to the veranda, and a compact bathroom.

WILLIE REVILLAME'S TROPICAL HOUSE

The 2,200 sqm property can rival any posh resort with its imposing structure, open spaces, and a vibe of luxury. Designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro V. Locsin, the home features sturdy posts that resemble tree trunks, a lovely pool area, and a quaint gazebo.

Ponce Veridiano, the same landscape artist who worked on the Greenbelt gardens and Peal Farm in Davao, was tasked to work on the home's spacious garden while architects Brian Tan and Ed Ledesma were tasked to restore and repair the house when Willie acquired it. The host didn't shy away from investing in designer pieces too—one of the cozy nooks highlights pieces from Kenneth Cobonpue's Matilda and Yoga collections.

VENUS RAJ'S HOMEY ABODE IN THE PROVINCE

Living in the province has its perks—you're closer to nature, you get to relish fresh air, and you're far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Beauty queen Venus Raj chose to build a home in Bato, Camarines Sur, her hometown. The home is simple, with glass sliding doors that lead outdoors and give the owners a view of the rice fields.

Opting for modest yet sturdy pieces of furniture helps maintain the home's airy and spacious appeal. With an area as open as this, it will be easy to entertain friends and host get-togethers. The chosen furniture pieces, with its wood and warm tones, complement the tropical aesthetic of the home.
