Here's What Went Down at Esquire's Man at His Best 2022

In 2021, Esquire Philippines celebrated Man at His Best (MAHB) with Esquire Playhouse, a digital immersive experience that showcased the stories of 10 heroes and mavericks of their fields—from Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa to former Vice President Leni Robredo.

This year, Esquire returned with its first in-person MAHB Awards since the pandemic, and it’s back with a bang. Held at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati, the event bore witness to the celebration of eight Filipinos who continue to raise the bar for excellence.

It recognized EJ Obiena, Risa Hontiveros, Cezar Consing, Alden Richards, Eraserheads, Soliman Cruz, Quark Henares, and Atom Araullo—icons and achievers in film, music, sports, business, politics, and journalism, the shapers of present-day culture and society. 

The night began with welcoming the guests, who all donned their most dapper looks at the MAHB red carpet. Senator Risa Hontiveros, Eraserheads’ Ely Buendia, and Soliman Cruz were among the honorees in attendance.

Recognition was also given to other creatives such as actor Alex Diaz, content creator David Guison, and rapper Al James, who received the “Creative Mind,” “Style Disruptor,” and “Life of the Party” awards respectively. 

Co-presented by Axe Philippines, the event was set up with exciting booths for the attendees to enjoy. This included a 360 selfie camera, a PlayStation booth, a beer pong table, racing simulation, table hockey, arcade games, and even a couple of massage chairs. Oh, and did we mention incredible cocktails courtesy of Manila Craft? Game on. Stickers were given for every activity completed, and a special prize is given to those who managed to collect all of them.
