Here's How You Can Support Stray Cats and Dogs This Weekend in BGC
Ever feel like you’re not doing enough for the horde of homeless cats and dogs in the country? Here’s one way you can help. On Saturday, August 20, 2022, Pawssion Project is holding a benefit concert at Fifth Avenue in Bonifacio High Street to raise funds for the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of stray animals throughout the country. Called “Pawchella,” the event will feature performances by Sud, Oranges and Lemons, Bini, Elle Sebastian, Jarlo Base, No Lore, Style, Up For Byes, Kayla Rivera, FourPlay, and AP Monty.
The concert is completely free and will last from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. But for concert-goers and animal lovers who want to do something more, you can pledge P1,500, equal to a month’s worth of food, shelter, and medicines for homeless furbabies. A pledge will also come with VIP access at the concert and a bottled coffee flask from Stay Up Espresso Bar.
In the span of four years, Pawssion Projects has managed to shelter and save the lives of over 5,000 animals, but founder Malou Perez knows there’s still much left to be done.
“At Pawssion Project, we truly believe that all animals deserve care and attention. Just like humans, they thrive when they are well loved and taken care of,” said Perez. “This International Homeless Animals Day, we hope to show support for our furry friends, raise funds for the projects that will help care for them, and drive awareness about important animal welfare issues.”
Pawchella will mark the end of Pawssion Project’s month-long International Homeless Animal Day campaign, which began with a kickoff event at BHS Central Amphitheatre on August 14, an art exhibit at Bonifacio High Street on August 15, and an Animal Welfare Convention on August 18.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to work with numerous volunteers who have donated their time and resources towards our cause. It is truly heartwarming to witness how the community cares enough for the neglected to take steps toward making a difference in the lives of our shelter and stray animals. Pawchella is the culmination and celebration of all our efforts,” added Perez.
Circumstances might prevent you from adopting homeless animals, but nothing’s preventing you from helping out and doing your part when you can. All furbabies deserve love, whether they’re aspins or stray dogs.
