Reddit Users Share the Worst Things People Do on Social Media

Ah, social media. Sometimes a great way to find info and connect with people… but, most of the time, a vehicle for division and angst. At least, that's if you don't know what to say, what to do, and what to avoid. Well, according to the wonderfully informed individuals on Reddit, there are a ton of don'ts if you don't want to look tacky.

Yep, a Reddit user invited the internet to share the worst things Filipinos do on social media. Here are 13 that caught our eye from the thread.

1. "Insurance agents/peddlers, branding themselves as Financial Advisors, who use their customer's grief/tragedy to prop up their products and paint themselves and their products as the customer's saving grace in their time of grief/tragedy."

2. "Posting products and saying 'pm is key.' no. if you're in the business of selling always be transparent with the prices asshole."

3. "Humble bragging ng luxurious life. Papasalamatan pa si Lord kuno for the blessings."

4. "Being extremely online, like their lives revolve around social media."

5. "Those people who post pictures of disfigured sick babies tapos they say 'comment your prayers!' or 'heart react so the baby can heal!'

Like. Gets ko talaga yung sentiment pero.. oftentimes the one who posts the picture of the baby has nothing to do with the baby, and they keep posting without the baby's or the family's consent. It's like they're only using the picture to get free comments or reacts [sic]. Super exploitative and disrespectful to the family."

6. "Yung pinipicturan yung bangkay sa burol. Joskolord nagsscroll lang ako di naman ako informed may online lamay."

7. "Parents making a socmed [sic] account for their infant baby and using it as if that it's the baby actually using it is not only tacky, it's weird. We all know it's you, Tita."

I have nothing against religion and religious people, but there are some things and people that are just a little too much."

13. "Financial Advisors who 'encourage' people to join their team to sell insurance. Sabay post ng bagong iPhone, kotse, or Europe tour nila. Mala MLM ang peg.

Also, ano nalang iisipin ng tao? 'So that's where our monthly insurance premium goes, huh?'"
