The Philippines' First Beauty Queen to Win Two Titles
With two major beauty pageant titles under her belt, Miss Universe Philippines 2018 and Miss World Philippines 2016, netizens claimed that Catriona Gray was the first beauty queen in pageant history to win more than one. But in truth, she was only the second.
The first beauty queen to win two major beauty pageant titles was Carlene Aguilar.
The beauty queen-turned-actress won her first major title in 2001 as Miss Philippines Earth.
The Miss Philippines Earth pageant was launchedin 2001, making her the very first beauty queen to hold the title.Â
The Filipino-Chinese beauty competed in Miss Earth 2001 held at the UP Theater. She finished in Top 10.
Four years later, Carlene joined Binibining Pilipinas 2005, and won Binibining Pilipinas-World 2005. She finished Top 15 at the Miss World 2005 competition held in Iceland.
While she didn't win the grand prize at any of the international beauty pageants like Catriona, she the first Filipino to represent the Philippines at two of the Big Four international pegeants.
Today, Carlene is married to her non-showbiz husband, Yo Ocampo, and is a mother of three boys.
