Fans Say Farewell to Henry Cavill, the OG Witcher

Hollywood did Henry Cavill dirty again. After replacing Henry Cavill—who looks like he stepped out of a Superman comic—in the DC Universe, they had to go and replace him in The Witcher as well, a series he helped build from the ground up as Geralt of Rivia.

Let’s be frank: There’s no Witcher without Cavill. This man, who is a fantasy nerd through and through, embodies Geralt. He played the games, read the books, and advocated staying loyal to the source material from the very beginning. But alas, loyalty is rarely awarded in show business—neither is staying true to the source material.

The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 is now streaming on Netflix, but it’s the last season we’ll ever see Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. We can’t help but feel sad for the actor, who’s pretty much carried the show on his back for these three seasons. While the powers that be behind the scenes might not support Cavill, the same can’t be said for his fans.

So in honor of the man, the myth, the legend, Geralt of Rivia, fans have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the actor who brought him to life—Henry Cavill.
