Yes, Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is Writing the Tomb Raider TV Series

Phoebe Waller-Bridge seems to be going all-in on actioncore, or at least with her latest project. The Emmy-winning Fleabag creator is apparently writing a TV series based on the game-turned-action movie Tomb Raider.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waller-Bridge is "attached to write the scripts for Tomb Raider," but isn't planning on starring in the adaptation.
The Tomb Raider video game would lead to films from Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in 2001 and 2018, with the Lara Croft character becoming an icon in the process. Netflix had also released an anime series a while back. While the 2018 adaptation flopped at the box office, it drew enough interest for Amazon to decide to take on the franchise. Amazon's version, meanwhile, is currently in the developmental stages.
This movie is part of the star's renewed overall deal with Amazon. She'll be producing it together with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt. Among other projects lined up for the Fleabag alum is an adaptation of Claudia Lux’s book called Sign Here and a mystery series that reportedly started filming last year.

She's busy as hell these days. After her breakout success with Fleabag, Waller-Bridge has been on fire with her roles as a writer, actress, and producer in various projects, including in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Run, and Indiana Jones 5. She had also co-wrote the James Bond film No Time to Die.
Originally, she was supposed to star with Atlanta's Donald Glover in the Mr. and Mrs. Smith remake, but would eventually walk away due to some creative differences with the comic-turned-actor-turned-rapper. In 2024, she is set to be part of the fantasy comedy If, alongside Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, and John Krasinski.
