The Top 10 Netflix Shows We Can't Wait For in 2023

Another year, another lineup of binge-worthy Netflix shows. The streaming platform has a whole host of new shows dropping every month, but we’ve narrowed down the list to our 10 most anticipated releases. From Henry Cavill’s last season of The Witcher to Zack Snyder’s first Netflix show, here are the 10 shows we’ve got on our Alert Me list.

Kaleidoscope 

Release date: January 1

Kaleidoscope is the latest experimental series that Netflix is taking a chance on. The show is inspired by the real-life theft of $70 billion in bonds that disappeared during Hurricane Sandy. A group of thieves is behind the decades-long heist, which will unfold over eight episodes spanning 24 years. The story itself isn’t experimental—it’s the way it will be told. Instead of following a chronological order, Kaleidoscope will allow users to randomize the episodes so they can be watched in any order. This’ll give each user a unique experience that will resemble, well, a kaleidoscope.

The Crown, Season 6

Release date: Sometime in 2023

Viewers can’t seem to get enough of royal drama. After Netflix dropped the Harry & Meghan docuseries, you can satisfy your morbid curiosity with the Windsors with the sixth and final season of The Crown. The sixth season was filmed after Queen Elizabeth II passed in early 2022, and will follow how Princess Diana’s death changed the Firm forever.

Vikings: Valhalla, Season 2

Release date: February 25

Vikings: Valhalla was a worthy successor to the original Vikings series, and Season 2 will hopefully recreate even more epic moments in history. Season 1 ended with Leif, Freydis, and Harald losing the war, but Season 2 should see their return with some classic Viking vengeance. Bring on the berserkers.

Shadow and Bone, Season 2

Release date: March 16

We never knew we needed a steampunk high fantasy series until we saw Shadow and Bone’s first season. If you love Slavic and Dutch folklore and culture, this is the show for you. Although geared towards younger audiences, the steampunk aesthetic should entice viewers of all ages.

The Witcher, Season 3

Release date: Summer 2023

The Witcher has already been renewed for Season 4, but Season 3 will be our last with Henry Cavill as the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia. The plot will follow Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer as they build their makeshift family and evade the Emperor, which should set up a number of exciting sequences. But the fact that this will be Cavill’s last season as Geralt should be reason enough to catch Season 3 to bid the actor farewell.

Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead movie was a wild ride, and the journey continues with a spin-off animated series from Trese creator Jay Oliver. The show will follow Scott Ward and his team’s efforts to contain the zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, with the main cast returning to lend their voices to the new series.

Blood of Zeus, Season 2

Blood of Zeus is an adult animated series of epic proportions. The first season had critics and viewers raving, and for good reason. Season 2 will hopefully live up to Season 1’s standards.

The Three-Body Problem

Release date: Sometime in 2023

With The Three-Body Problem, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss (of Game of Thrones infamy) will try their hands at sci-fi television. Based on the novel of the same name, the show takes place in China, where two Chinese scientists must uncover a government conspiracy about a mysterious string of suicides. At the same time, a mysterious visual reality game somehow finds itself at the center of the story.

Starring Jeff Goldblum, Kaos is a dark comedy that retells Greek mythology in a modern setting. Expect lots of politics, power, death, and all the good things that make Greek mythology exciting. With Jeff Goldblum on board, this dark comedy is a must-watch in 2023.
