Our favorite Filipino-Canadian star Manny Jacinto seems to have ascended to new heights in the pop cultural sphere. The actor currently stars as the Sith Lord in Star Wars: The Acolyte. He plays Qimir, who happens to be a friend of the assassin who goes by Mae. People are apparently going bonkers over his performance and we couldn't be more delighted.

Once starring as the affable Jason Mendoza in NBC's The Good Place, Jacinto has come a long way from his humble days in Canada. Interestingly, he was actually born in Quezon City and moved to Canada with his family when he was only three years old.

Recently, he's gone on to star in films like Bad Times at the El Royale and Top Gun: Maverick, as well. Star Wars, nevertheless, has been a different challenge for Jacinto. After all, he had big shoes to fill, to begin with.

In an interview with Esquire Philippines earlier this month, Jacinto commented on dealing with the toxicity of the Star Wars fanbase as he was preparing for the role.

"I mean, there's always gonna be, I think with any project, not just Star Wars, there's always gonna be people that are vocal about not liking something," he explained. "I think it's just so much more pronounced because Star Wars has such a huge fan base and the fans are very passionate. But I think it just kind of comes with the territory. And at the end of the day, I think we're just really proud of what we’ve made."

He continued: "I'm like, Amandla and I are really proud. Leslye and I are really proud. Like, I think at the end of the day, we made our dreams come true. And if some people don't like it, that's okay. But if some people love it and are inspired by it, that's the cherry on top."
