WATCH: Filipino Motorcycle Club's Music Video Gets Thumbs Up From Foo Fighters
One of the most popular bands on the planet just put their stamp of approval to a music video produced by a local motorcycle group.
Last March 31, the Grammy-winning rock group Foo Fighters fronted by rock superstar Dave Grohl posted a video of their song “No Son Of Mine” on their official social media accounts. The video was made by Anghel ng Lansangan, one of the oldest custom motorcycle clubs in the Philippines.
“Thanks for taking us on a ride through your beautiful countryside,” the band said. “Can’t wait to rock out in person!”
In an interview with Top Bikes Philippines, a sister title of Esquire Philippines under Summit Media, a representative of Anghel ng Lansangan said the group, which has been active since the 1960s, likes to make videos of their rides around the country. The videos are often set to music that reflects the biker lifestyle.
“(T)he Foo Fighters’ music fits our motorcycle lifestyle since Dave Grohl (vocalist) rides motorcycles, too!” the group said.
It was good timing that the Foo Fighters just released their new album, Medicine at Midnight, in February this year. The group reached out to the local office of the band’s label, Sony Music, to ask for permission to use one of the band’s songs in the album for the new video. The label agreed
Anghel ng Lansangan shot the video in Doña Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan and chose the song “No Son of Mine.” It was filmed and directed by Michael Eijansantos, an adventure motorcycle rider and huge Foo Fighters fan. He's also a correspondent for Spin.ph, another media platform under Summit Media.
“We showed Sony the video and they sent it to the band and they liked it,” the group said. “And the rest is history!”
Besides Grohl, Foo Fighters is made up of Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee. Medicine at Midnight is the band’s 10th studio album. Earlier this year, it was announced that the band had been nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility.
