Remember the Pin-Up Girls? Frontman Mondo has a New Band, Single, and Music Video
If you love the Pin-up Girls, you’ll be thrilled to discover that its frontman, Mondo Castro, has a new band, also called Mondo, and is about to release a forthcoming single.
The band will launch the original and acoustic versions plus the music video of the single, “If I Tell You Why” on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Saguijo Café & Bar in Makati. The launch gig should be a revelation of Mondo the band’s folk, rock, and blues sound—a complete and conscious departure from the light-hearted indie-pop goodness of hits like “Ride Rocket Wild” and “Hello Pain” by The Pin-Up Girls.

“If I Tell You Why” takes on a more mature, more serious, and heavier approach, albeit still with Castro’s signature vocals.
Joining him in the band are some of the most seasoned names in the local indie music scene: Drei Paman (Gaia & Andrei) on lead guitar, Dax Balmeo (Paranoid City) on rhythm guitar, Gaia Royeca (Gaia & Andrei) on keyboards and backing vocals, Mico Marasigan (Jetcoaster) on drums, and Lui Rodriguez (Rubber Pool, Caren Tevanny, Peso Movement) on bass.
Mondo is signed to indie label Cre8MUSIC Records and managed by Cre8Team Multi-Media Management.
Join Mondo at Saguijo on November 16 with Rise High, Robyn M, Soleil Misalucha, and Violent Playground. Gates open at 7:00 p.m. There is a P300 door charge.
