Aside from spending the most amount of time online, Filipinos took the crown in another pastime: listening to music.

Whether it’s to keep them productive at work or entertained while traveling, Filipinos have a soundtrack to their lives. And the statistics back it up: Filipino internet users listen to an average of two hours and six minutes worth of music each day.

That’s the largest average reported by Digital in 2019, a global study on internet usage by social media agency We Are Social and social management platform Hootsuite. But that’s also two minutes shorter than the country average in the previous year.

The rest of the top five had much lower averages. Neighboring Thailand came in second with 90 minutes of music per day, while India, Mexico, and the U.S. ended up in third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

On the other end of the list is Japan, with listeners with an average of 16 minutes of digital music each day. The rest of the bottom five is filled with European countries whose residents only listen to digital music for around half an hour per day.

The report did not specify which platforms it measured in arriving at these statistics, but it’s no secret that a lot of internet users today listen to music through streaming. The advent of platforms like Spotify and Apple Music has made music more accessible for a lot of people.
