This 82-Year-Old Dumpling Maker Transforms Into A Cool Club DJ at Night

At 82 years old, you'd expect Sumiko Iwamuro to already be in retirement, but she's far from it.

For the last 60 years, this incredible Japanese lady and her brother have been working at a dumpling restaurant they inherited from their father.

But that's not the only thing that keeps Sumiko active. Over a decade ago, when she was 70, she discovered an unlikely hobby: DJing. Now part of Shinjuku's vibrant nightlife, she doubles as a techno DJ at the DecaBarZ club.

Japan, known for its aging demographics, is highly populated by senior citizens. Japanese people are living longer than before, according to the Japan Geriatrics Society. Their average life expectancy for women is 85, and for men, 80. Most of these senior citizens are still active in the workforce, with Sumiko being a prime example.
