Yep, that's out of every other country in the world. And if you remember, we also bagged that not-so coveted title back in 2018. Now, we can finally say we've had that honor for five consecutive years. If you're wondering why we spend so much time on social media, the Global Web Index guesses it cause emerging markets have younger demographics.

Japan, which has an older population, ranked the lowest when it comes to social media use. In fact, Japanese citizens only spend less than an hour on average online. The survey also showed that other countries spend two hours and 23 minutes per day online.

How much time do Filipinos spend online, you ask? A whopping four hours—that's double than the worldwide average. Nigeria followed with three hours and 36 minutes, while India sits third with two hours and 25 minutes.

If that already sounds alarming, the study only asked about social media use. In 2018, a report showed that Filipinos spent an average of 10 hours a day online.
