Forget The Batmobile, Check Out The Bat Benz
The Batmobile is as essential to Batman as a character as the color black. None of the many cinematic iterations of Batman have ever forgone it, and all of them seem to have had their own idea of what it should be. The same is true about the current Batman, played by Ben Affleck, who, in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, drove a Batmobile that looked like a mix of the tank-like Bale Batmobile and the Corvette-like Keaton Batmobile. We can surely expect to see that version in the upcoming Justice League movie, but as always, it will have a civilian counterpart: Bruce Wayne’s car, not Batman’s. And this time around, it’s the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo.
The Vision Gran Turismo was originally developed by Mercedes as an electronic remote-controlled concept car for the Playstation 3 game, Gran Turismo 6. A 1:1 scale model of the concept was then unveiled in 2013 at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California.
Later on, Justice League director Zack Snyder decided that it would be Bruce Wayne’s car, so Mercedes designed an expanded version for the movie, fitted to Affleck’s height and equipped with custom interiors. It’s a very Bruce Wayne look, we’d say.
Prior to this, Christian Bale’s Batman drove Lamborghinis: a Murcielago in The Dark Knight and an Aventador in The Dark Knight Rises.
For Justice League, Mercedes also gave Wonder Woman an E-Class Cabriolet, while a yet-undisclosed character will be getting a custom Mercedes-Benz G-Class 4x4.
Catch Justice League as it opens in theaters on November 16 in The Philippines.
