This Tiny Recorder Is Probably the Most Entertaining Dashboard Camera Yet

Our favorite bit of tech this week warns you about spotlights and traffic cameras. You can talk to it, too.

Garmin's new dash cam has a lot going on for such a small package. The 2.0-inch LCD Dash Cam 55 has high-quality video capture that saves footage on impact should you be involved in an incident. It's also smaller than a deck of cards.

It also helps you avoid them in the first place with driver alerts like forward collision, lane departure warnings, red light and speed camera alerts. There's clever voice activation, too: say "OK Garmin, start Travelapse", and it'll activate a video capture facility that compresses your journey into scenic highlights. You can then wirelessly sync videos to your phone to share.
