LEGO Is Making a James Bond Aston Martin DB5 Complete with Tire Slashers and Ejector Seat

Well, there goes all our vacation time.

James Bond's 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is one of the most iconic cars of all time, the best sidekick a lone spy could ask for. It did not even once try to seduce and/or betray him. Now it's joining the lauded ranks of such vehicles as the Millennium Falcon and Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and getting the Lego treatment.

The Lego James Bond Aston Martin, which Lego revealed recently, is based off the car Sean Connery drove for Goldfinger; it is an expert-level set with 1,295 pieces. Build it correctly, and it has all the necessary spy gadgets: rotating licence plates, a bullet shield, a hidden phone, pop-out machine guns, tire slashers mounted in the wheels. And oh hell yes, it has an ejector seat.

Back in May, a real-life DB5 used on the set of GoldenEye was put up for auction for as much as $2.1 million. This toy collectible's price isn't quite so steep: Lego is selling it for $150, starting August 1. (You can take a look at it here.)

Get it for your kids this holiday season, although they won't have a clue about its cultural significance, or get it for yourself and have a bit of fun. Unfortunately, it does not come with a mini James Bond Lego figurine. But Lego Batman will do in a fix.
