Everyone's favorite handheld is getting a sequel.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is developing the next generation of the beloved Nintendo Switch. Though the details are a bit sparse, it's expected to launch in the second half of 2019, and it seems likely that the LCD display will be replaced with a new type of screen.

With over 20 million units sold and stock prices surging, the Switch has been the biggest in a series of successful releases for Nintendo in recent years, so the update isn't likely to mess with the formula too heavily. Lately it seems that everything the company touches turns to gold: "Retro" releases of the NES and SNES Classic have nostalgic gamers going crazy, with an Nintendo 64 Classic expected in the near future. In addition to sales, titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey have proven to be some of the most critically acclaimed games on any platform in the past few years.

If you can't wait another year to get your hands on the console, the Switch is available everywhere for $299 (and makes a great gift for the holidays).
