This Is The Age When You Will Officially Be At Your Loneliest

Being described as a "silent epidemic" a new survey has revealed the effects of loneliness on men and at what age a man is most likely to feel at his loneliest.

As part of the Spotlight on Men month, which was launched by the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, 1,200 men were surveyed on the subject, with 11 percent saying that they are lonely on a daily basis, while 35 percent said being lonely made them feel depressed and nearly 40 percent said they felt isolated.

Perhaps the most surprising finding was that the average age at which a man will feel at his loneliest is age 35.

Labor MP Rachel Reeves, who co-chairs the commission, said: "Loneliness is a silent epidemic hidden inside every family and community and can affect any one of us and at any time.

"For the next month, we will explore how and why men experience loneliness and, most importantly, shine a light on the practical steps that can be taken to combat it.

"Now is the time to break the silence and start a conversation."

It is also estimated that around 1.5 million men will live alone in England and Wales by 2030.
