This Man Has Figured Out How to Defeat Those Turkish Ice Cream Vendors

One man from the United Arab Emirates found a clever way to defeat the notorious Turkish ice cream vendors, who often tease their customers by dangling the cone in front of you, only to take it away when you attempt to grab it. Some people take offense at the provocative Turkish ice cream vendors, whose antics border on humiliating their customers in the guise of a practical joke. 

But Mohamed Nagia found a simple solution: Eat the cone. 

You might be wondering why the Turkish ice cream seller caved so quickly when Nagia started eating the cone. And to make sure the cones will not be usable, he started biting off the tip of the bottoms. 

Like many street food businesses, ice cream sellers on the street count their daily sales by the number of containers left in their stalls, or in their case, cones. That means for every cone that Nagia ate, it was considered an item sold that the vendor now had to pay for. 

Not everyone was impressed at how Nagia reacted, though. 

“I don't understand people complaining even about this. These are not regular ice cream sellers. These are Kahramanmara ice cream sellers… the seller does this small show to entertain people. I remember them from my childhood mostly, and they are part of a culture. If you want to buy regular ice cream, you can shop from markets or other ice cream sellers,” said one woman. 

But another commenter responded:

“If someone just wants their ice cream they should just be allowed to have it I feel by the 3rd time I would be like, ‘No just the ice cream please!’” said the second commenter.
