The Medals Carlos Yulo Won Have Pieces of the Eiffel Tower in Them

As Carlos Yulo becomes the first and only Filipino athlete to bag two Olympic gold medals, his journey to this year's Paris Games has been the stuff of legends. From switching coaches to overcoming detractors along the way, Yulo showed quite the resolve.

His success also coincides with the centennial anniversary of the Philippines' participation in the Olympics (track star David Nepomuceno first represented the country in 1924). Of course, Paris is celebrating its own milestone, as well. This year, it became only the second city in Summer Olympics history to host the games three times, doing so in 1900, 1924, and again in 2024.
