NBA 2K25 Just Launched. Here's What's New
Gamers and basketball fans alike always look forward to this time of year. On Friday, 2K announced that their top-selling NBA video game simulation series’ latest iteration, NBA 2K25, is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and for the first time, PC. NBA 2K25 for New Gen elevates the game with enhanced realism and control with ProPLAY technology, new competitive modes, community-driven features, and more exciting new innovations that promise to keep you glued to your gaming console for the foreseeable future.
Jayson Tatum, A’ja Wilson and Vince Carter are this year’s cover athletes, which will once again make choosing which edition of the game to purchase a bit more interesting.

Gameplay powered by ProPLAY technology offers 9,000 new animations directly translated from real NBA footage for never-before-seen next-level realism. Enjoy an immersive and authentic experience with 1,500 dribbling animations, 1,100 signature shot animations from most of the players from the 2023-2024 NBA season, and 1,300 off-ball animations. An all-new dribble engine powered by ProPLAY is one of the biggest changes to gameplay in 15 years and includes dynamic motion from real NBA footage.
This year’s game also welcomes everyone to a newly revamped interactive The City that’s designed based on player feedback. Improvements include a more connected and intimate feel, a competitive hub on the Boulevard of the Stars, the all-new ranked mode Proving Grounds, and the return of MyPARKS from 2K15 as well as MyCOURT, among others. With this year’s MyTEAM, 2k25 introduces Triple Threat Park, one of its biggest upgrades ever. Three other new game modes: Breakout, Showdown and King of the Court are available as well for both single and multiplayer. Auction House also makes a comeback in MyTEAM.
Players can build the next great NBA championship dynasty with MyCAREER, climb the Dynasty Rankings by going up against the nine best teams in league history, and, along the way, relive their MyPLAYER’s journey to the NBA in a new flashback story called Heart of a Dynasty.
2K25’s also got the ladies covered by allowing players to choose the legends of the past, current queens, and future stars of the WNBA.
In MyNBA mode, players can step into The Steph Era where they can relive or rewrite the Golden State Warriors’ championship legacy, while MyGM is available on New Gen for the first time, enabling players to become an NBA Team’s General Manager in an immersive role-playing experience. For newbies or those who need to work on their game, Learn 2K is a new mode that allows players to learn everything from the basic mechanics of 2K, practice the new Rhythm Shooting, or all the way to executing the most advanced moves. Learn 2K is an educational tool built to make NBA 2K25 more accessible for everyone.
