Air Canada Delivers Non-Stop Flights to Manila
Filipino-Canadians can now say goodbye to long layovers, as Air Canada launches direct flights between Vancouver and Manila.
With over one million Filipinos in Canada, the Philippines is considered one of the fastest-growing market for the airline, says Air Canada Managing Director of International Sales Rocky Lo. "We know that this route will help a lot of those Canadians with Filipino descent to come home to visit their friends and relatives as well as bringing their friends and family from the Philippines to visit Canada,” he adds.
The launch of the service positions Air Canada as the North American airline currently serving the most non-stop destinations in Southeast Asia, and the only Canadian airline flying directly to the Philippines.

“The new route from Vancouver to Manila is welcome news for British Columbians and will help better connect the more than 170,000 Filipino Canadians living here with their loved ones,” says BC Premier David Eby. “At a time where we are focused on expanding our global markets, this new flight will benefit tourism, trade and strengthen our overall economy.”
The inaugural Air Canada flight, AC017, arrived in Manila at 6:04 a.m. on Thursday, welcomed by a water cannon salute and a cultural performance by Banda Kawayan Pilipinas.
The service will begin with three weekly flights in April, increasing to four weekly flights in May. Lo said that the airline is ready to add more flights depending on customer demand.
Air Canada's flights to Manila mark the airline's 12th route within its transpacific network from Vancouver, which includes destinations in Japan, South Korea, the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, leveraging on Vancouver's geographic position as the closest major North American city to Asia.
