The Department of Tourism has teamed up with Smart Communications to bring free Wi-Fi services to top tourist hotspots in Manila. In a bid to boost tourism, the partnership will roll out free Wi-Fi in select locations in Intramuros and Rizal Park.

Some of the key places that are getting free Wi-Fi via Google Station are Plaza Dilao, Casa Manila, Museo de Intramuros, Plaza Roma, and Fort Santiago, as well as the area across Luneta.

President of Smart Communications Alfredo Panlilio revealed that this is only the beginning of what will be a series of free Wi-Fi stations throughout the country, as more will be launched outside Intramuros and Rizal Park. Smart and InnoPub Media have already installed over 400 Google Stations in busy areas like airports, hospitals, and malls.

There’s still no announcement as to when the free Wi-Fi will be made available, but once it is, there’s no doubt that even non-tourists will find a reason to visit Manila’s top tourist destinations.
