The Largest Passenger Terminal in the Philippines Is Now Open
The country's largest passenger terminal has opened in the port of Oriental Mindoro, according to the Philippine Ports Authority.Â
Oriental Mindoro's Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) can accommodate nearly 4,000 passengers every day. Located at the Port of Calapan, the newly opened PTB is the upgraded version of Calapan's old terminal, which could only service 1,600 passengers a day.Â
According to Ports Authority General Manager Jay Santiago, they are expecting as many as 12,000 passengers to use the port during Holy Week, the country's peak season for travel.Â
The new facility features a play area for children, charging areas for devices, dining areas, and breastfeeding areas. Unlike the old terminal, the PTB also is PWD-friendly: It has round-the-clock escalators, elevators, and ramps. It also has restrooms for PWDs.Â
